"Nordhavnen", the former container harbor in northern Copenhagen, will be redeveloped to become a new part of the city "that offers space for 40,000 inhabitants and 40,000 jobs". The proposal Nordhavnen X suggests a concept which is based on a water, material and energy circulation system enabling the district to function self-sufficiently. Three parks with different topics - woods, hills, fields - structure and connect different parts of the area: They function both as sports and recreational spaces and as natural collective and cleansing surfaces for the rainwater and sewage processing. "Nordhavnen X" is primarily laid out for bicycle and pedestrian's traffic and connects to the existing public transportation system. A variation of typologies for the bank area is created that takes advantage of the unique situation at the Øresund: Stairs, piers, pontoons, ramps, beach and meadows make the water and the wide look about the sound a true experience.
