The concept for the transformation of the conversion area in the centre of Nuremberg combines the potentials of central location and existing programmatic focus with the demands for noise attenuation, parking and traffic space.
The connections of the site to the existing green spaces "Wöhrder Wiese", "Wöhrder See" and "Pegnitz" are central focal point of the concept.
In order to reduce dominance of necessary parking spaces in the public perception, the existing topography is being used to integrate them into a sequence of urban plazas. By this, the Bahnhofstraße is being connected through different topographic strategies with the emerging industrial Landscape park "Gleispark" in the south.
Materialwise, Plazas and buildings refer to the local context of Nuremberg by use of traditional materials like sandstone and wood, in combination with modern materials.
